It’s been a long time since I’ve written one of these posts.
It feels like a lot has happened since the end of January. And yet, I don’t have many photos or too much to write about.
Yes, we’ve been as busy as ever. Music lessons and band and baseball and tennis. Choir concerts and school meetings and . . . The weather has been all over the place – so there have been days spent playing outside and mountains of snow. Okay, maybe not mountains, but lots of snow.
But what has been missing is a whole lot of motivation and joy. Although I am never without a camera, pretty much literally, I haven’t taken the time to capture the small moments the way I usually do. Which I why I decided to launch a new project for April: 30 Days of Things That Bring Me Joy. You can follow me on Instagram to see the posts in real time, or check back at the end of April for the highlight reel.
(All of this is assuming that my new phone arrives as scheduled on Monday, April 1st. Today I took a tumble down the garage stairs and sent my phone flying as I tried to catch myself. Luckily, I’m okay, but I can’t say the same for my phone).
In the meantime, I do have some photos of the “big” stuff that’s been going – lots of birthdays celebrated here this month – and a few shots of our regular days.
I got in a lot of running this month. Even with working a lot of days at the school, I still managed to squeeze in runs whenever I could. With one day left to run this month I am at 94 miles for the month. Most of those miles were on the treadmill – but since I’ve started watching Netflix and Hulu while I run I don’t mind that nearly so much.
I did get lucky and record a few outdoor runs. But it was super windy most of the month. So those runs were hard and slow. Nonetheless, I did enjoy being outside.
During one of those outdoor runs I also saw my first glimpses of spring. It always surprised me how early these little plants pop up. Now I just can’t wait for them to start flowering. I am definitely read for a little bit of color in this gray world.
We celebrated Kyle’s tenth birthday! It’s so hard for me to believe that my baby is ten years old. I’ve got a post in the works about how it feels to have three tween/teens at home. Here’s a glimpse of him when he was first born. . . .
And here he is today.
We had a great time celebrating him this month. My Dad came in to town and so did my in-laws who are wintering in Florida. We enjoyed a fun family dinner and this delicious lemon cake.
I even managed to snap this great pic of all three kids:
And Kelly snapped one of me and the birthday boy. This is not my favorite picture, but I’m sharing anyway because it’s nice to have a picture of the two of use together.
Kevin surprised us all by deciding to play tennis instead of baseball this year and he has two matches under his belt. One inside and one outside (on a deceptively cold day).
I love this picture of Kyle and his girlfriend cheering him on.
I’m also happy to announce that I finally agreed to put some of m own Pilates classes on the calendar and I am loving it. I truly had no idea how much I missed the reformer until I started using it multiple times a week again. I’m also enjoying getting to meet new clients and pushing them to be their best selves.
As an added bonus, when I leave my early morning classes I get to experience sunrises just like this.
And I have been steadily working on my new year’s goal of getting rid of one thing a day. I still have a ways to go, but this is one little pile that I pulled together in about five minutes the other day. I’ll be sharing lots more details about this project in the weeks to come.
Finally, we made a quick trip to N.J. to celebrate my nephew’s seventh birthday. I can’t believe he is 7 years old! He requested a “red bowling cake” and so I made this special cake for him. Although we were there less than 24 hours it was a great trip and I love spending time with family.
Looking ahead, we will be heading to Disney in a few weeks. While I know the parks will be super crowded, I am definitely looking forward to some warmth and sunshine. And it will be great for the whole family to be together in Disney World on Easter.
That’s all for now.
Have a great weekend!
